Simplifying
/In my photography, as well as in my life, I believe less is more. It is easier for me to see what is important to focus on if I zero in on that which is most attractive and meaningful to me in the moment. Everything else is clutter. That which surrounds the focus must enhance, not detract, from my attention. This is easy to say, not easy to do - both in life and photography. This I believe, is important for me to remember, if I want to realize the most joy. Both, my ego and my photographic eye want to devour it all, often missing what is most pleasing to me and connecting to others.
Below is a photo on the Marginal Way, on the coast of Maine. I like the broad image, but it is not usually me. I looked at my favorite images and concluded that I do not wish to crop any of them more than I did. In the Marginal Way image I saw a half dozen images to simplify my viewing focus. Take a long look.
